At the end of the 19th century, Alsace discovers that she had in her soil a big stock of potash. The potash is an ore which is mostly used for the creation of fertilizers. In order to promote the production, Hansi was asked to create an advertising poster.

The final result bears out the Hansi's characteristics. On the one hand, in the blue background we can see the Cathédrale of Strasbourg, which is a symbolic place because during many years the building was the highest of Europe and had contribute to the Alsatian History.

On the other hand, in the foreground we can see a stork, which is the emblematic bird of Alsace. The stork create a tricolor flag with her white plumage and her red beak in front of the blue background.

Thanks to the potash mines, Hansi was able to have a good financial stability and became more famous.  Indeed, after the advertising poster, the artist had to create some calendars and other products for the Association of the Potash Mines. Hansi stayed the only owner of his works and so had many royalties.
