Colmar's Ramparts
Listen to the audio guide
During his walking, the calm atmosphere of the Colmarian summer night was a great source of inspiration for Hansi. On this canvas are represented the ramparts of the city at the shore of the Lauch. We have a panoramic view of the city from the outside , where we can see the Collegial Saint Martin surrounded by the houses and the ramparts. The blue color is the main color of this canvas and is used to symbolize the summer nights' light.
This panoramic view has been took for the creation of post cards. Indeed, the Lauch is the river which go through the city and allowed the transportation of the truck farmers' products to the covered market. Due to this navigable canal, Colmarians named the district at the shore of the river : "the Little Venice", in reminder of the Italian city known for her navigable canals.
