House Pfister
Listen to the audio guide
Hansi have a very special link with his hometown and painted her in many different point of view. We can focus on his aquarelle of the House Pfister, a place that can't be overlooked. The building is famous to make the corner of the Rue des Marchands and the Rue des Mercières, with wonderful mural paintings by Clauss Sattman. The House Pfister was built in 1537 by Ludwidg or Louis Scherer, a hatter and also a bourgeois of Colmar. Hansi had cleverly give back bright colors of the buildings, thanks to aquarelle. The pigmentation of aquarelle helps to recreate the reality. We also notice the fact that the point of view is the same than a Colmarian ( someone who lives in Colmar) or a tourist walking in the Rue des Marchands would have. The artist wanted to stay faithful to reality in presenting geranium, a flower often places to Alsatian windows to decorate houses during spring and summer season.
